What types of plans does Lemonade offer?

At this time Lemonade offers a standalone pet insurance plan that provides coverage for accidents and illnesses, which include injuries, poisoning, broken bones, sprains, infections, general sickness, cancer, heart disease, hip dysplasia, hernias, skin conditions, and more. Lemonade will cover the costs associated with vet bills related to those incidents or conditions. This includes hospitalization, diagnostics, lab work, surgery, emergency care, and prescription medication.

Lemonade also allows you to customize your policy with multiple preventative care packages and wellness add-ons, including ones for vet visit fees, dental illness, and physical therapy.

When does Lemonade recommend you sign up for pet insurance?

Lemonade’s Preventative+ package covers all of that, plus your pet’s routine dental cleaning and flea, tick, and heartworm medication. Lemonade has also put together a Puppy/Kitten preventative package, which is designed to support the needs of pets that are under 2 years old. This package provides coverage for everything that's already in the preventative package, and also coverage for spaying or neutering, microchipping, and up to 6 annual vaccines.

CLAIMS

How long is the waiting period after enrolling with Lemonade pet insurance?

From the moment you choose to activate your pet insurance policy, there will be three different waiting periods that depend on your start date. These are 2 days for accidents, 14 days for illnesses, and 6 months for cruciate ligament events. Lemonade only offers reimbursement for your claim once the relevant waiting period has concluded.

How do I file a claim with Lemonade?

To file a claim you simply open the Lemonade app, and then hit the "File a Claim" button, Lemonade will guide you through the rest of the quick process.

How do I pay my Lemonade premiums? Do I have an option between paying monthly vs. paying annually?

Lemonade's policies start at $10/mo, though you should note that the cost of your customized premium will depend on how much coverage you get (and how long), your pet's age, health background, and location.

What other things should I consider about my Lemonade pet insurance coverage?

Lemonade offers a few different add-on coverage options. First, is the Vet visit fees add-on. For between $2-5 a month for cats and $3-8 a month for dogs, Lemonade will offer this add-on to help pet owners pay for any exam fees that they are charged for when visiting the vet. Next, is the Physical therapy add-on. This add-on will usually cost between $1-3 extra per month. This add-on covers physical therapy treatments that include treatments like acupuncture and chiropractic care. Lemonade also offers add-ons for Dental Illness, Behavioral Conditions, and End-of-Life and Remembrance. When it comes to preventative care, Lemonade offers two plans for pet parents that want coverage on their pet's routine care plus a Puppy/Kitten Preventative Package. These two plans come at different prices and coverage levels. The more expensive plan provides coverage for a wellness exam, a fecal test, three vaccines, a heartworm test, a blood test, and this plan will provide coverage for flea, tick, and heartworm medications in addition to routine dental cleaning which is the most expensive option. The Preventative plan includes everything already listed above, except for coverage for flea, tick, and heartworm medications, and coverage for routine dental cleaning. Lemonade also offers add-ons for Dental Illness, Behavioral Conditions, and End-of-Life and Remembrance.
