How Amazing Clubs Made My Day at the Beach

Want to have the perfect day at the beach with friends? You just need a few things:

1. Sunshine, sunscreen, and sunglasses
2. A beach towel
3. Snacks, water, and (of course) ice cold beer

(And, if you’re like me, you might want to add a frisbee, speaker, and book to the list…)

I love getting a new selection of beers in the mail each month. I feel like I’m ready for any situation. This past month featured two selections from SweetWater Brewing Company from Atlanta, Georgia: 420 Extra Pale Ale and Goin’ Coastal IPA with Pineapple.

These beers were perfect for the beach. The only thing that would have made them better is if they were in cans instead of bottles (PSA: be extra careful not to break any glass at the beach or elsewhere in nature!)

I was most excited to try the Goin’ Coastal. I’m tend to think fruit-infused beers as a gimmick more than anything, but the name was too perfect not to try at the beach.

And you know what? It was great!

The pineapple flavors resonated throughout the beer transforming a 6.10% ABV IPA to a lighter-tasting, drinkable beer.

The sweet, tropical fruit and pineapple flavors feature prominently, while malt and hops provide more of a base layer. The flavors compliment each other surprisingly well without overpowering. Add to it a hazy golden amber color and nice white head and you have yourself a great beach-beer!

The Sweetwater 420 Extra Pale Ale was a fan favorite. The flavor is crisp, balanced, and delivers a refreshingly bitter aftertaste that leaves you ready for the next sip. Though it lacked a signature taste that made the Goin’ Coastal stand out, it left me ready to buy it for the next day at the beach.
