While it’s recommended that you get Saatva’s foundation along with the mattress, just to make sure that you get the best perks out of the mattress and its support, you can make do with just about any good foundation or base that you’d like. To make the most out of your mattress, you want to make sure that your mattress base is supportive, stable, and not missing any pieces.

Keep in mind that the 15-year warranty that comes along with your Saatva can become void if your foundation is not deemed up to Saatva’s standards. This can point to the foundation being the issues, rather than the mattress. There is no stipulation on whether or not the warranty is void when the mattress is kept on the floor, but you’ll want to talk with a Saatva support person to make sure.

If you do decide to purchase the Saatva foundation, you don’t have to set it up. The white glove delivery service includes foundation setup, so you can start sleeping on a supportive bed the second the delivery person leaves your home.

Caring for your Saatva mattress

It’s recommended that you rotate your Saatva mattress once a year to increase longevity and keep your mattress feeling balanced. This is not a requirement, per se, but this will keep your Saatva feeling fresh year after year, even when used nightly.

For any spills or stains that occur, you don’t want to saturate your bed for fear of damaging the foam inside the mattress. Instead, use a small amount of antibacterial soap and a warm damp sponge for cleaning. You’ll want to make sure the bed can dry out, so don’t throw on any blankets or mattress covers before it spot dries.

In fact, if the mattress doesn’t show up in that window, you can cancel your order and receive a full refund.

You have to be home to receive the mattress, otherwise, the delivery person will take the mattress back with them. This ensures that your mattress isn’t sitting on your front porch for hours while you’re away. Saatva also wants to verify that the mattress is in complete working order before leaving your house.

Shipping is free, but you should keep in mind that if you end up having to return your mattress, you will get charged with a $99 transportation and labor cost. Saatva is very upfront with this, and they try to be as transparent as possible when it comes to any fees that accrue when ordering or returning your bed.
