Stash is an investing and mobile banking app created to help people build long-term wealth. It makes investing affordable and easy for beginners with a minimal deposit of just $5.

How do you transfer money?

You can either transfer money out of Stash via the app or online. To transfer money via the Stash app, simply tap the Transfer button on your screen, select the accounts that you want to transfer money to and from, enter the amount, tap on Continue, and then tap on Transfer to confirm the transaction. To transfer money using Stash online, log onto stash.com, select Home, select Personal Portfolio, click on Transfer, select the accounts that you want to transfer money to and from, enter the amount, click on Confirm, and then click on Make Transfer to confirm the transaction.

How do you change your linked external bank account?

You can change your linked external bank account through the Stash app. Start by going to your profile and tapping on your initials and then move on to settings and click on Manage External Bank Account. You can then select Connect a different account. To link or change your linked external bank account you can either use your external bank’s ID and password or the routing and account numbers. In some instances, Stash will require you to provide documentation if you wish to change your linked external bank account.

How do you buy or sell an investment?

Buying and selling an investment on the Stash app is an easy and seamless process. Simply go to your home screen, tap on Invest, and select the investment you would like to sell. You can then tap on the Buy/Sell button, choose the reason for selling, enter the desired amount, and then press continue. Once you are on the Confirm sale page, you can read the disclaimer, check the box, and then tap on the Sell button to confirm the sale of your investment. You must note that there is a mandatory 2 business day holding period after which you will be able to use your funds.

Will you be given tax documentation?

Stash issues tax documentation to people who have made money from selling investments, earned more than $10 in interest and/or dividends, or have a Retire account to which they have made a contribution. Tax forms that Stash may send to you include Consolidated 1099, 1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1042S, 1099-R, and 5498. If you are eligible to receive tax documentation, Stash will email you when your forms become available online, which is typically in mid-February.
