TYPES

What bed sizes does Eight Sleep offer?

Eight Sleep Eight Sleep offers mattresses in Full, Queen, King, and California King sizes.

What type of mattresses does Eight Sleep offer?

Since finding the right temperature has a direct influence on how well you sleep at night, Eight Sleep uses technology to help every sleeper find the temperature that helps them sleep soundly at night.

Eight Sleep offers three different mattress models, each with its own distinct feel. All three of the model comes with sleep tracking and a GentleRise alarm that wakes sleepers up with a gradual thermal change and chest-level vibration.

  • The Pod 2 Pro: This model is a four-layer mattress that offers sleep tracking. The tracking works for both sides of the bed, so you can monitor both your and your partner's sleep time, sleep stages, and more.
  • The Pod 3: The Pod 3 is a five-layer mattress that is 12 inches deep and offers more comfort than the Pod 2 Pro and improved tracking.
  • The Pod 3 Max: This is Eight Sleep's most popular mattress. It offers six layers, increased comfort, better tracking, and a MaxChill layer. The MaxChill layer is excellent for people who sweat a lot while they sleep. It's made of copper, silver, and graphite to give you maximum heat dissipation.

Which Eight Sleep mattress type is best?

While Eight Sleep offers three different mattresses, it heavily promotes its most popular mattress -- the new Pod 3. Since the Pod 3 offers the most in terms of temperature control, sleep tracking, and comfort, this is the mattress that is most showcased by Eight Sleep. With the Pod 3 in their bedrooms, people will be able to experience better sleep quality and deeper sleep.

Which sleeping position is best for Eight Sleep mattresses?

Eight Sleep designed its Pod mattresses to be medium firm so every type of sleeper can enjoy them, including back, stomach, and side sleepers. Medium firm mattresses offer the comfort of a softer mattress with the support of a firmer one.

Which body type is best for Eight Sleep mattresses?

Most body types will be able to use Eight Sleep's mattresses. Each mattress can hold up to 500 pounds. If you're sleeping by yourself, this will be sufficient in most cases. If you're sharing the bed with a partner, you should do some quick calculations to see if this weight limit will work for you.

COMFORT

Is a Eight Sleep mattress firm or soft?

Everybody has their own preference when it comes to how soft or firm they like their mattress to be. Finding the right firmness level can help you get a good night's sleep and will prevent you from waking up with as many aches and pains each morning. Some mattress companies offer several different feels so customers can get exactly what they want. Other companies, like Eight Sleep, offer only one firmness level that's designed with everyone's comfort in mind.

The vast majority of sleepers will find that a medium-firm mattress is a great option -- especially if you're sleeping with a partner. It's a good middle-of-the-road firmness level that can satisfy two people who have differing ideas about what firmness level makes a mattress comfortable. If one sleeper prefers the support of a firmer mattress and the other likes the comfort of a soft mattress, they'll both get what they need from a medium-firm mattress.

For those who like the feeling of being hugged when they rest on their mattress, the medium-firm mattresses still give that feeling because of the generous layers of foam that are used.

In addition, their mattresses use high-density and responsive foam, so there will be less movement transfer if your partner tends to toss and turn at night. You won't feel them moving around as much, and the mattress won't bounce as much as a traditional one does. Since you won't be waking up as much during the night, your sleep quality will improve.

Does Eight Sleep provide back support?

With the medium-firm mattress support as well as the comfortable foam layers, Eight Sleep's mattresses do an excellent job of providing back support. Back, side, and stomach sleepers will appreciate how their backs feel.

Does Eight Sleep relieve pain?

Eight Sleep mattresses offer excellent spinal support, which helps promote a healthy alignment that will keep you as pain-free as possible in the middle of the night and in the mornings when you wake up. They also use pressure relieving materials that can help with any pressure point pain sleepers normally feel on other mattresses. Many Eight Sleep customers notice a big difference in their pain levels when they begin sleeping on an Eight Sleep mattress.

Unlike with many other mattresses, though, how much better your sleep with Eight Sleep mattresses can be tracked. Their cleverly-designed mattresses use sensors to track your sleep and your health. You'll be able to track and chart important key statistics that will tell you how well you're sleeping at night. Some of the items the sleep technology in Eight Sleep mattresses will track for you includes heart rate, respiratory rate, how long you slept during the night, your sleep stages, and how many disturbances you had. When your pain level decreases as you adjust to your mattress, your data may show fewer sleep disturbances at night.

While you shouldn't rely solely on the data to gauge how well your mattress is working for you, it will be helpful to use that information. Not only will you be able to feel the difference in your Eight Sleep mattress, but you'll also have technology and science showing you what it is doing for you. You'll get all your biometrics monitored and tracked without having to strap on any wearables like watches before going to bed. You'll be notified when there is an off-trend metric when compared to your baseline.

While pain relief is one big thing people expect from a new mattress, there are other ways in which people are uncomfortable at night. One factor that influences your comfort level in bed is the temperature. If you're too hot or cold while sleeping, you won't get a good night's sleep.

Eight Sleep mattresses can help with that as well by allowing you to control the temperature of your mattress. The Pod 3, for example, offers automatic cooling and heating that can range from 55 degrees Fahrenheit to 110 degrees. And if you are sleeping with a partner who doesn't have the same temperature preference as you do, it's no problem. Each side of the bed will adjust separately so that both sleepers will experience supreme comfort and the temperature they need for a great night of sleep.

Does the Eight Sleep mattress keep cool at night?

Eight Sleep mattresses are designed using breathable materials. The Pod 3 Max also includes a MaxChill foam layer that is infused with graphite, copper, and silver to help dissipate heat and keep you cooler. Each of their mattresses allows you to set dual-zone personalized temperatures for each phase of the night.

MATERIALS

Eight Sleep Construction

The Pod 2 Pro is made of four layers using the best in sleep technology to bring you innovative biometric tracking and temperature control. By comparison, the Pod 3 mattress is designed with five layers and the Pod 3 Max has six layers.

What are Eight Sleep mattresses made from?

Eight Sleep uses high-quality materials that are well constructed to produce mattresses that are made to be durable and comfortable. In the Pod 3 Max, you'll have the base layer which features the Hub, which is the headquarters for all the tech that will be used in the mattress.

Then, six other layers are added -- the four-inch FlexSpring technology core, the one-inch Tranquility transition foam, the one-inch MaxChill layer to keep you cool, the one-inch airflow top layer for more breathability, the active grid, and the one-inch comfort blend.

Does the Eight Sleep mattresses come in a box?

The mattress portion of your Eight Sleep bed will come in a box. You'll have to open it as soon as possible after arrival to allow the foam expansion to begin.

Does Eight Sleep need a special foundation?

All three of Eight Sleep's mattresses should be placed upon a breathable, slatted base. Box springs, solid wood foundations, and the floor won't give enough support and breathability for the foam in the long term. You won't be able to use an adjustable base because the active grid layer must have no kinks or bends in it in order to work properly.

If you have slats in your existing foundation, you have to ensure that the gaps aren't wider than three inches between the slats. If they are, it won't offer enough stability because the foam will eventually sink between slats.

If you're not sure if your current foundation meets the criteria needed to keep your warranty intact, Eight Sleep does sell a foundation that can work with any of its mattresses. It is slatted properly and is made with 100 percent solid spruce wood so it offers enough support.

If you don't have a proper base, you will likely void the 10-year limited warranty on your Eight Sleep mattress, so it's important to measure between the slats of any foundation you're considering using. If the slats are further than three inches apart, you should look for another mattress frame to use with smaller gaps.

Caring for your Eight Sleep mattress

Since technology has been incorporated into your Eight Sleep mattress, it's crucial that you follow their cleaning and care instructions carefully. All cleaning and care instructions will be in a manual you receive, as well as in the Eight Sleep app.

The cover portion of the mattress that includes the technology isn't water-resistant, so Eight Sleep recommends covering it up with a waterproof mattress protector. If it were to become stained, they recommend dabbing it gently with a damp cloth dipped in soapy water. For the foam portion, you may spot clean using only the bubbles that are created by mixing dishwashing liquid with water.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Eight Sleep Delivery

Eight Sleep will send your mattress in two packages -- the first one will contain the foam mattress which has been compressed and rolled. The second package will have the active grid layer and the Hub. Free shipping is only available within the continental U.S.

If you have an old mattress you want to get rid of, you'll have to make arrangements to dispose of it, donate it, or recycle it. Eight Sleep doesn't offer mattress removal at this time.

Eight Sleep Return Policy

Eight Sleep offers a 100-night trial period for its mattresses. It's important to note that the trial period begins on the date of delivery -- not when you begin sleeping on the mattress. For that reason, it's important to open the mattress box as soon as possible after delivery. That will give you as many nights as possible of the trial period to test out your mattress and decide if it's right for you.

To return your mattress, you have to send an email to Eight Sleep. If you're returning it, the mattress must be received before the end of the trial period, so you need to remember to allow time for shipping or disposal. Eight Sleep doesn't reuse returned mattresses, so you will have to recycle or dispose of it.

There are no fees charged by Eight Sleep for returns. Refunds can take up to three to ten business days to be credited, and they will be sent to the method of payment you used to order the mattress.

Before returning your mattress, take advantage of the 100-night free trial to see if your body will adjust over time to the feel of your new mattress. Sometimes it takes several weeks for your body to feel comfortable on a new mattress.

Eight Sleep Financing Options

Financing is available for Eight Sleep mattresses through Affirm. If you apply for financing, they'll run a soft credit check on you. If you are approved, you'll be able to opt to make up to 36 monthly payments on your mattress instead of paying it all upfront. The exact amount you're shown at checkout will be what you pay -- there are no hidden fees.

Eight Sleep Warranties

Eight Sleep mattresses have two different components -- the mattress part and the technology. Keeping that in mind, there are two different warranties. You'll receive a 10-year limited warranty on the foam mattress. The technology layer of the mattress has a 2-year limited warranty.

To ensure that your warranty will be honored if you have an issue, it's essential that you give your bed the support Eight Sleep says it must have. Pay close attention to the base you use, as well as how far apart your slats are on the foundation. If your base is deemed insufficient, your warranty won't be honored.
