Are you stuck in a food rut? I used to feel too busy to grocery shop and prepare my own meals. So, I would order out A LOT. I could easily spend $15 or more on a meal after tax, delivery, and a tip.
One day, I compared my takeout to a co-worker’s home made lunch. My jaw dropped when I saw how much better her lunch looked. She had fresh lettuce wraps filled with sweet chili chicken covered in fresh veggies.
I told her I could never make something like that. She just laughed and said “me neither” before telling me her lunch was actually from Home Chef meal delivery and cost under $10.
She explained how she had signed up a few months back with no real cooking skills. Now, she’s getting fresh ingredients delivered to her door each week along with easy-to-follow recipes.
It was like a lightbulb went off in my head. I decided to give it a shot. At the very least, I’d get a chance to try some new foods, probably save some money, and maybe even learn how to cook a few things.
Subscribing was super simple. I selected a 3 meals per week for 2 people for a total cost of just $59.70 per week – or $9.95 a meal. (My first week even included with a $30 coupon, which brought the cost of 6 meals down to $29.70 – or $4.95 per meal to start)
Home Chef let me choose my dietary preferences and exclude ingredients I may not like or might be allergic to – including soy, nuts, gluten, shellfish, and mushrooms. They even let me pick what day I wanted ingredients and recipes delivered.
Just a few days after placing my order, my first shipment arrived. It came complete with pre-measured ingredients and simple recipes. Perishable ingredients came in a refrigerated bag, which kept things fresh.
Honestly, I didn’t get my first couple meals picture-perfect. I made a few mistakes along the way and carefully reading the step-by-step recipes took me longer than the 30-minute meal mark for the first few weeks. But, I got better.
I’ve been a member for nearly a year. I can follow all the instructions with ease – and am confident enough in the kitchen to add my own spin to their recipes and use the techniques I learn in my own cooking. I even increased the number of meals I’m getting each week from 3 to 5 because I love it so much.
I can honestly say that it made me a better chef and changed the way I eat!
I recommend Home Chef to all my friends that want to save time and money shopping for food, try new things, learn new skills in the kitchen, and get out of a food rut.
Ready to give it a try? If you’re anything like me you’ll be happy you did.
